I *may* have spent more than intended in Japan for our honeymoon. But to be fair, many of the items I got would have been a lot more expensive in Singapore! And I treasure all the trinkets I got, even those from the Gacha machines! We set aside a bigger budget for this trip to really enjoy ourselves, and even so I spent less than $2,000SGD for all our food, travel expenses and souvenirs combined over the 8 days! (We already paid for our flight and hotels) I shared more about the trip over 2 streams while decorating Polaroids and unboxing! Please enjoy!
Master list of the unboxing streams I've done over 2024~! January 2024 - Big Birthday Cosplay Unboxing (21st Jan 2024)April 2024 - 5th April 2024Pinky Street Unboxing - 13th April 2024Before Japan Trip Unboxing - 25th May 2024Japan Trip Haul - Deserves it's own post!I lost count how many streams I spent at my parent's house trying to finish a Robotime Rolife Miniature Cat House (They've since removed it from their site, I can't find the product except for on 3rd party websites). In 2023, I had a series called 'The Backlogs' where it was a time on Thursdays for our community to catch up on things we've been leaving asunder. From the outside it looks like a cute little DIY Kit, but it is a world of pain and fine work that takes incredibly patience and precision. I have a newly acquired respect for anyone who attempts (and does well) this sort of DIY kit. I've also gotten a wee bit of aversion towards them now. Practice makes perfect, but I would rather spend my time on other things. It was still an entertaining time for chat, however. Seeing me fumble with every miniscule bead and string to put together tiny tiny tiny cute things. The finer work is not something I enjoyed, but I'm glad it made for content chat had fun with! In the end, I fitted the entire thing wrongly so I couldn't even install the lights (RIP), but it is ok, we learnt much from this. Such as how DIY kits are my weakness.
In 2023, I found a nice deal for some remaining Spy x Family Kuji merchandise at a local store! At the time, I had some Spy x Family Stickers that weren't moving too, so I thought: 'Why not do a Kuji stream?' I anticipated losing money on this event, but wanted to host it for fun anyway! I advertised a promotional price of $11 per entry, with 5 allowing for 1 free, along with a free sticker for every ticket purchased. Every participant would get a chance to win the Anya Forger Final Prize too! Shipping cost was a main concern since this was not done in person. Thankfully, we sold out on stream and even gained two carrot club members that day! We managed to break even and earned a little too. More importantly, I had fun with my community! Fixed on stream on 19th February 2023, my first Bandai Model Collection piece - Alcremie! This was one of the first Throne gifts I had ever received, and it was a pleasure to fix on stream! She is soooo cute!
On 6th December two years ago, I built my first gunplas with Chewy! (Then boyfriend, now husband) I needed some help with a few parts but thankfully he was there to help. We unboxed and fit the Hello Kitty / Zaku II (Green) and Hello Kitty MS-06S Char's Zaku II (Red)! I love the SD proportions, it is so cute! I'm still on the lookout for the Hello Kitty/RX-78-2 Gundam, perhaps I'll get to add her to my collection one day. Still looking for!VODI got home recently from a back-to-back trip to Bangkok then Kuala Lumpur, for holidaying and Comic Fiesta 2024! Over in Bangkok, 2 venues stood out as must-visit venues if you're in the city as a toy lover. There is a bonus location to check out at the end! 1. Mega Plaza Saphan Lek Hosting an impressive 6 storeys packed with blind boxes, TCG items, collectible toy shops and more; Mega Plaza is the place to be if you are in search of collectibles of any kind. They even have a section dedicated to vintage cameras! The colourful porch is hard to miss, and a great place for photo opportunities! The moment you walk in, you will be greeted by an array of colourful toys to browse at your leisure. However, be warned that the corridors can get narrow when crowded, and if you are someone who risks visual overstimulation, you may want to test the waters with the larger stores first. Be sure to price-check to make sure you get the best deal! Many items have prices are tied with and even pricier than Singapore's, but you may find some collectibles you would otherwise have difficulty sourcing back home. *cough cough* Labubu... Labubu is abundant here. Open daily from 10am-7:30pm 900 Maha Chai Rd, Wang Burapha Phirom, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand Big thanks to Jiawei for recommending this place to me. 2. Masaru Anime Store Sukhumvit has a concentrated Japanese community and is lined with Japanese restaurants, Karaoke bars and more. Unsurprisingly, an amazing figurine store can also be found here. Masaru boasts 2 storeys of primarily anime figurines, with a small section dedicated to Ichiban Kuji goods and Plushies. The figurines behind the glass displays are second-hand figures which do not come with their boxes. The staff were welcoming and incredibly helpful when we visited, even assisting to translate the defect labels unprompted. A wide selection of latest releases to vintage pieces can be found here, so allocate enough time to scour the shelves and floors! If you are looking for a particular series, it helps to show the staff a photo of it. Open daily from 10am-7:30pm 26/1-2 Sukhumvit 69 Alley, Phra Khanong Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
